Amid the unprecedentedly escalated high level of tensions on the Korean peninsula after the remarks of "fury and fire" by U.S. President Donald Trump, trade unions and liberal civic organizations called on the South Korean and U.S. governments to take preemptive measures to defuse the tensions including the halt of Korea-U.S. joint military exercises to usher North Korea in the peace process based on reconciliation and cooperation.
