The Korea Railroad Corporation(KORAIL) on July 21 made a settlement with the Korean Railway Workers' Union(KRWU) regarding special recruitments for dismissed KTX(Korea Train Express) train attendants to be hired as clerical and sales workers. It is not sure yet if dismissed workers will be able to go back to work as KTX train attendants.

According to the management and labor of KORAIL on July 22, 180 dismissed KTX train attendants will be reinstated as KORAIL's regular workers by the first half of next year, or at the latest by the end of next year despite under any circumstances inevitably occurring in terms of the manpower demand and supply within KORAIL.

KORAIL and KRWU made it clear in the agreement that "in case that those under special recruitments want to be transferred to the career field of previous work in future, it will be allowed in accordance with the procedures." It means that when KORAIL brings back a business unit of crew service on the express trains currently conducted by its subsidiary, the KORAIL Tourism Development, the relocation of dismissed KTX train attendants to the previous work will be arranged.
