For the past five years, the National School Irregular Workers Solidarity Conference comprising the education contract workers division of the Public Service and Transport Workers Union, the National School Irregular Workers' Union, and the Korean Women's Trade Union as a joint negotiation team has gone through 200 rounds of collective bargainings with the Ministry of Education, until they finally reached a collective agreement which contains the working conditions of irregular workers at the national schools.
The Ministry of Education and the Solidarity Conference signed a collective agreement which includes the guarantee of trade union activities and the improvement of working conditions for national school irregular workers at the Government Complex Seoul on Apr. 26. The school accounting staff are those who are not civil servants but engaged in education and administrative jobs. There are about 560 workers in the fields of school affairs, science, data processing, administrative support at the national schools across the country.
