Employment and Labor Minister Kim Young-joo met with Sohn Kyung-shik, chairman of the Korea Employers Federation(KEF) at the Seoul Regional Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor(MOEL) on March 29. During the meeting, Minister Kim congratulated the new KEF chairman Sohn on his inauguration on March 5, saying that "I am looking forward to an important role to be played by Chairman Sohn to upgrade the current level of labor relations in Korea based on his richly experiences accumulated through having managed the companies and having served the chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KCCI) in the past and also to lead the Korea Employers' Federation(KEF), which is responsible for dealing with the issues of labor relations representing the employers, with the balanced and rational perspective."

Minister Kim emphasized the role of Chairman Sohn to play in the tripartite representatives meeting slated for on April 3 to form a new social dialogue body. asking the newly elected chairman of the Korea Employers Federation(KEF), Sohn Kyung-shik "to actively participate in the tripartite dialogue with the balanced perspective towards the development of national economy and the improvement of the quality of worker's life as well as the representation of employers' positions".

KEF Chairman said that "he will do his best to resolve the issue of job creation and to expand the culture of win-win relations between labor and management, and he is also expecting the leading role Minister Kim to play in the process of the resolution of job issue and the development of labor relations."

Minister Kim and Chairman Sohn agreed to share their opinions on major pending labor issues and to expand the communication in future.
