FKTU President Kim Ju-young said in his opening speech that "ILO core conventions are yet to be ratified. It is common sense that holiday work is included in the overtime work, but the National Assembly is yet to pass the amendment bill to rectify it." While recalling the 'policy solidarity pact' signed between then-presidential candidate Moon Jae-in and FKTU in May this year, he stressed that "these issues are the tasks that President Moon promised to address in the pact," and called on "the government and ruling party to come up with the action plans to realize these pledges at the earliest possible date."
The rally called for the full guarantee of basic labor rights, jobs with adequate working conditions and life, abolition of irregular jobs, reduction of working hours, and autonomous labor relations through the amendment of time-off system for full-time union officers.
