The first business that President Moon Jae-in has done after sworn into office on May 10 was to instruct the formation and operation plan of the committee on job creation which will be chaired by President himself.

The details of the composition and operation of the presidential committee on job creation are yet to come available, but they are likely to be based upon the draft recommendation made by the election camp committee on job creation.

According to the election camp's job creation committee, the committee on job creation will be chaired by President and Prime Minister as vice-chairman with the composition of 20 members; 10 government members and 10 civilian members respectively.

At the working level, a vice-minister level official will be in charge of the secretariat which will implement the committee activities. The committee secretariat will be composed of policy planning division, job creation division, employment innovation division and external cooperation division with a total number of 60 to 90 staffers including government employees seconded from the related ministries.

President Moon Jae-in also established a new post for the presidential senior secretary for job creation, replacing the former presidential senior secretary for employment and welfare. This post was reportedly not included in the camp committee's draft recommendation.

Despite such new positive changes initiated by the Moon Jae-in administration, there were some confusing news reports that labor representatives seemed to be not included in the composition of the job creation committee members.
