The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions(KCTU) started its preparations to stage a social general strike in June this year for the minimum wage of 10,000 won(US$8.97), abolition of irregular employment and disbandment of chaebols system. As seen in the citizens' candlelight revolution, KCTU plans that after the presidential election on May 9, it will mobilize the workers nationwide for a week to push for the new government to work for a comprehensive reform in labor.

The similar resolution rallies were also organized simultaneously by the KCTU in 12 other regions across the country such as Daejeon, Busan and Kwangju.
