When the impeachment ruling of the Constitutional Court cleared the uncertainty of the political environment through the ouster of scandalous former president Park Geun-hye, presidential contenders entered into the competition mode for the upcoming presidential election.

Moon Jae-in, former chief of the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea launched the 'job creation committee' on March 13. Ahn Hee-jung, governor of Chungcheong South Province and current runner-up in the opinion polls has already registered as a party candidate for the presidential nomination election of the Democratic Party of Korea, competing with the front-runner Moon Jae-in and progressive candidate Lee Jae-myung, mayor of Seongnam City.

Moon has already announced his policy platform on the job creation in January this year that he would create 810,000 jobs in the public sector and 500,000 jobs through the reduction of working hours and also promised to establish the presidential job creation committee chaired by himself, when he is elected.

Sim Sang-jung, chairwoman of the minor opposition Justice Party has completed the preliminary candidate registration, the first among presidential hopefuls, for the 19th presidential election at the National Election Commission.
