Kim Joo-young(left side of the picture), president of the Federation of Korean Public Industry Trade Unions(FKPITU) and Kim Man-jae, president of the Federation of Korean Metalworkers' Trade Unions(FKMTU) officially run for the leadership election of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions(FKTU), the largest trade union center in Korea.

FKPITU president Kim Joo-young on January 6 registered his candidacy for FKTU president with the selection of Lee Sung-kyung, president of the Federation of Korean Rubber Workers' Unions as his running mate for the general secretary post, whereas FKMTU president Kim Man-jae grouped with Lee In-sang, president of the Federation of Korean Public Trade Unions.

The incumbent FKTU president Kim Dong-man withdrew his campaign for his re-election on January 6, the last day of the candidacy registration.

The election is scheduled on January 24 at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in southern Seoul. The FKTU officially announced that union delegates forming the electoral college are 3,125.
